Senior Technical Writer

ARIA Cybersecurity products provide a single platform for enterprise-wide automated threat detection and remediation. We are seeking a qualified technical writer to produce end-user documentation for our enterprise customers in the cybersecurity and networking space. As a Senior Technical Writer, you will need to create documentation that explains complex system configurations, tools, and processes in a concise and clear manner. Many of our customers are engineers or are highly technical so you’ll enjoy collaboration with people that have diverse range of experience. As products and solutions evolve, you’ll be able to learn new technologies and incorporate feedback to improve overall quality.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience as a technical writer or 5+ years combined experience as a developer and technical writer
  • This role is in-person at our Lowell, MA office or as a remote teleworker (must reside in USA)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English • Experience writing for an audience that includes engineers, network administrators, or cybersecurity professionals.
  • Proven record of working closely with software engineers and SMEs to gather and create content • Experience with current industry practices such as topic-based authoring and XML
  • Ability to understand complex system configurations that include hardware & software components • Ability to create documentation from requirements or loosely defined product concepts
  • Experience writing user guides, reference manuals, datasheets and release notes for potential, new and existing customers • Experience documenting on-premises, cloud based and/or SaaS model products
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in proofreading and editing
  • Proficient with MadCap Flare, MS Office, and Adobe tools. Familiarity with similar/competitor tools.

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of programming languages and technologies such as Python, C, web browsers, networking, or security.
  • Experience writing procedures intended for the Linux command line and Windows UI.
  • Experience working with and documenting REST APIs

What you’ll do:

  • Independently create new technical manuals, guides and other documentation from scratch
  • Develop and edit technical content based on use cases, user stories, feature requirement documents, specifications, information from developers, product managers and your own use of the product
  • Maintain, update, and enhance existing documentation
  • Manage, create, and publish content in multiple output formats
  • Collaborate with Management, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, QA and Support to understand documentation needs
  • Produce technical documentation for emails, FAQs and technical bulletins.
  • Proactively research product changes to determine the scope of modifications that need made in manuals.
  • Verify documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance
  • Provide input on documentation and product design and implementation
  • Produce screenshots, flowcharts and other graphics and video
