Director of Operations (Lowell, MA)

The Director of Operations manages and coordinates the company’s manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and facilities functions, as well as ensures compliance with and coordination of ISO initiatives. This position is responsible for collaborating with the leadership team and across the organization to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems and processes designed to accommodate the growth of the company.

The candidate in this role will be accountable to managing production and purchasing operations while maintaining standards to deliver consistent, high quality products produced in an efficient manner. The candidate will be responsible for achieving safety/quality/service/cost metrics, implementing operational scorecards, recruiting and developing talent, maintaining good manufacturing practices and in compliance with federal/state/local and industry regulations.

 

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assessing structures and procedures to ensure that objectives are met.
  • Evaluate the performance of the organization in meeting objectives and determine where costs can be reduced, what can be improved and what should be changed
  • Take corrective action to solve organizational problems
  • Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all activities for production, quality control, and maintenance to ensure customer commitments are met
  • Oversee production activities, including planning and controlling production capacity including parts ordering and procurement, optimizing labor needs, manufacturing equipment upgrades, fulfilling production in a timely manner, optimizing inventory and other daily activities to ensure service and production excellence
  • Responsible for leading the order fulfillment, manufacturing, purchasing, inspection and receiving, shipping, technical services and service depot
  • Help source and hire new operational talent as the business expands
  • Oversee operations to ensure compliance with quality system and objectives
  • Oversee compliance with relevant regulations and policies including but not limited to RoHS, REACH, SCIP, CE, WEEE, USMCA, Proposition65, Low Halogen, Cobalt Reporting, FMD, SCRM, SCCP and CMMC.
  • Utilize daily management systems as part of operational best practices and reporting
  • Manage process improvement initiatives
  • Secures, develops and maintains reliable sources of supply capable of delivering quality products and services at competitive process and consistent with user requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in a relevant business-oriented stream.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ demonstrable experience in a pertinent managerial position.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV or equivalent ERP System
  • Familiarity with Salesforce.com a plus
