Contractor – Test Technician (Lowell, MA)

Contractor Position Summary: Under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineer, the Test Technician will test and trouble-shoot high density computers, circuits, and equipment using meters, oscilloscopes, temperature probes and other related equipment. Conducts equipment and/or unit start-ups and performs field service activities, including consulting with engineering as needed to adhere to specifications. Participates in quality inspection activities. Documents test and service reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Tests and trouble-shoots high density computers, circuits, and equipment using meters, oscilloscopes, temperature probes and other related equipment.
  • Conducts equipment and/or unit start-ups and performs field service activities, including consulting with engineering as needed to adhere to specifications.
  • Participates in quality inspection activities.
  • Documents test and service reports including root cause.

Requirements:
Education and Experience:

  • Two year technical degree in electronics, electrical, engineering, or equivalent.
  • Eight+ years’ experience as a Technician in the semiconductor industry or other equivalent large capital equipment manufacturer (ex., automotive, aerospace, or medical device industries)
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Proficient with Windows, Linux, Unix
  • BSEE is a plus.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

  • Must be familiar with the concept and application of the following; actual work experience in at least one of these areas is preferred:
  • Technical knowledge of assembly, test and debug of electronic equipment including:
    • Experience with the assembly and disassembly of mechanical components of electrical assemblies
    • Knowledge of PCB fabrication, related to fault isolation and repair
    • Knowledge of circuit card assembly surface mount and through-hole repair techniques
    • Strong ability to read electronic schematics, Gerber data, netlists and comprehend specifications.
  • Familiarity with C++ and Python
  • Good communication abilities, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy using worksheets and word processing as well as customized data acquisition software.
  • Must be able to work independently, under minimal supervision, and work well with other individuals and teams.
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
  • Knowledge and understanding of build-to-print programs and ISO regulations.

Essential Functions/Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds on a regular basis
  • Bend, squat, stoop, kneel frequently as needed throughout the day.
